  1. You can stay in a tent in the group area at Elk Creek Campground.  This will be the “central” area for reunion activities.  No reservations are needed to stay here.  Bring a tent and sleeping materials.  (We have a few extra tents and sleeping bags that we can lend in an emergency.)  The cost of the group area is $200 per night for the first 20 people, and $10 per night per person for each person above the first 20.  We will divide the total cost of the group area evenly among the person-nights that stay there.  Although no reservations or arrangements are needed, it would be good for you email us and let us know you want to stay here so we have an idea what what’s in store.
  2. You can camp in a tent, camper, or RV in your own site at Elk Creek Campground.  There are 14 sites for small campers with electric and water, 3 50-amp RV sites with full hookups, 23 30-amp sites with full hookups, and 36 tent sites.  Tent sites run from $28 to $31 per night for two people, while RV sites run from $35 to $50 per night for two people.  Make reservations as soon as possible for these sites by calling Pat Janes at (970) 984-2240 or (866) 489-3240 or email her at Janes@rof.net.  She shuts down for the winter on September 30, and she claims she doesn’t take any calls after that until April 1.  (I personally can’t vouch for that.)
  3. You can stay in one of the cabins at Elk Creek Campground.  There are 13 “Camper Cabins” which are small one-room sheds with one bed, sometimes a bunk, and no linen.  (In fact, none of the cabins have linen.)  Two cabins have bath and shower and sleep four.  The largest cabin is a two-bedroom with bath and shower, and sleeps six.  The cabins run from $50 to $98 per night.  Make reservations as soon as possible for these cabins by calling Pat Janes at (970) 984-2240 or (866) 489-3240 or email her at Janes@rof.net.  She shuts down for the winter on September 30, and doesn’t take any calls after that until April 1.
  4. You can camp at one of the other campgrounds in the area, such as Rifle Falls State Park  ($14 without electric or $18 per night with electric), or Rifle Gap State Park (From $8 per night for a primitive site to $160 per night for a Premium Large Cabin).  Colorado State Parks also charge an additional $6 per car per day to enter the park area.  You can make reservations online by visiting the web site links. These parks are roughly 16 miles from Elk Creek Campground, which will be the “central” area for reunion activities.  (See below or Click here for local map.)  Also please note that Elk Creek Campground will require all “visitors” that do not reside there to check in each morning and pick up a car pass, leave by 9:00 each evening, and pay $5 per day per person.  We twisted Pat’s arm and obtained special dispensation to allow Mock Famliy Reunion visitors to stay until 10:00 each evening.
  5. You can stay in a hotel such as the Roadway Inn in New Castle (from $89 per night), Red River Inn in Silt, or in nearby Rifle or Glenwood Springs including the Hot Springs Lodge (from $180 per night).  New Castle is just a few minutes away, while Rifle and Glenwood Springs are about a 20-minute drive from Elk Creek Campground.  (See Below or Click here for local map.)  As mentioned, Elk Creek Campground will require all “visitors” that do not reside there to check in each morning and pick up a car pass, leave by 10:00 each evening, and pay $5 per day per person.
